The idea

Phones get out of hand. Kids get glued. Parents get tired of asking. ChoreKey ties phone access to chore completion — but only when the kid is at home. Outside the house, the phone works normally. No tracking, no surveillance, no “you’re grounded”.

The short version

ChoreKey collects no data about you or your kids. Everything — chore lists, photos, location membership, your PIN — lives only on the iPhone where the app is installed. We don’t run servers that store your data. We don’t use analytics SDKs. We don’t sell anything to anyone.

What ChoreKey accesses on the device

• Location — only to check whether the phone is inside your home geofence. We don’t log a location history. We don’t transmit coordinates anywhere. The home coordinate you set is stored locally, on the device only.
• Camera — only when your kid takes a chore-completion photo. The photo is saved to the app’s private storage on the device. It is never uploaded.
• Family Controls / Screen Time — the app uses Apple’s Family Controls framework to apply restrictions to apps you select during setup. Those selections never leave the device.
• Notifications — local-only. We schedule reminders on the device. We don’t send push notifications from a server because we don’t run a server.

Photo retention

Chore-completion photos are auto-deleted from the app’s storage seven days after parent approval (or rejection). Photos never leave the device, but we still don’t want them to pile up.

Children’s privacy

ChoreKey is designed for use by families. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children, because we do not collect any data at all. The kid’s first name and chore photos exist only on the device the family uses.

What we don’t do

• No accounts, no email collection, no sign-in
• No analytics frameworks (no Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Firebase, anything)
• No advertising identifiers tracked or shared
• No third-party SDKs that phone home
• No cloud sync (everything stays local)

If the policy ever changes

We’ll update this page and bump the “effective” date above. If the change is material (e.g., we ever introduce optional cloud sync in a future version), we’ll make it opt-in and explain it clearly inside the app.
