Common questions

Why does ChoreKey need my location?

So restrictions only apply when your kid is at home. The moment they leave the home geofence, the lock lifts automatically — no parent action needed. The home location stays on the device.

What happens if my kid leaves home before chores are done?

The lock lifts. ChoreKey isn’t about punishing kids when they’re out with friends. It’s about making home time productive. When they come back home, the lock re-applies until chores are approved.

Can my kid still call me when locked?

Yes. Phone, Messages, and Maps are never blocked by ChoreKey, even when the shield is on. Calls home always work.

Does ChoreKey send my data to a server?

No servers of ours, ever. Standalone, everything stays on the device. If you pair with a parent phone, your family’s chores sync through your own private iCloud — we never see them. No accounts, no analytics. See the privacy policy.

Can I use this with more than one kid?

Yes. Add as many kids as you want. Each kid has their own list and status.

I forgot my parent PIN.

See the recovery steps in the FAQ — they differ slightly depending on whether the device is paired to a parent phone. We don’t store your PIN anywhere off-device, so an on-device reset is the only recovery path.

How do I cancel?

There’s no subscription to cancel. ChoreKey is $2.99 once; remote approval from your own phone is an optional one-time $4.99 unlock — pay once, done, nothing recurring.
